By using FURID, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information

We collect information that you provide directly to us, including:

• Account information (username, email address, password)
• Profile information (display name, bio, avatar, cover image, species, pronouns, labels, custom styling)
• Content you post (links, images, videos, text, gallery posts with descriptions, FurAsk questions and answers, journal entries)
• Profile blocks and custom CSS you add to your profile
• Two-factor authentication secrets and recovery codes (when you enable 2FA)
• Consent records (terms and privacy policy acceptance with timestamps)
• Communications you send to us

2.2 Third-Party Account Connections

If you connect third-party accounts, we receive and store:

• Twitch: Used for sign-up and login. We receive your Twitch profile (email, username, profile picture) and store OAuth tokens.
• Spotify: Optional connection to display your listening activity. We store access and refresh tokens.
• Discord: When available, may be used for sign-up and login (profile, email, OAuth tokens). Separately, you can connect Discord to display your avatar and username on your profile; we store your Discord user ID, username, and avatar URL for that feature.

These services have their own privacy policies that apply to the data they collect.

2.3 Location and Geographic Data

If you use the Place feature (map and stickers):

• Map pins: latitude, longitude, text content, and images you add
• Stickers: tile coordinates and image URLs you place on the map

2.4 Automatically Collected Information

When you access or use our service, we automatically collect certain information, including:

• Log information (IP address, browser type, pages visited)
• Device information (hardware model, operating system)
• Usage information (interactions with the service)
• IP address when you like a profile without being logged in (to prevent abuse and limit one like per visitor)

2.5 Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser storage to:

• Session cookies: Keep you logged in (managed by NextAuth)
• Local storage: Store your language preference so it persists across visits
• Session storage: Temporarily store adult content confirmation and OAuth flow state
• Cookies: Store UI preferences (e.g., sidebar state)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our service
• Create and maintain your account
• Display your profile, gallery, and connected content (Twitch, Spotify, Discord, Last.fm, etc.)
• Process transactions and manage your preferences
• Send technical notices, support messages, and in-app notifications
• Respond to your comments and questions
• Monitor and analyze trends and usage (including via analytics providers)
• Detect and prevent fraudulent or harmful activities
• Enforce our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy

4. Information Sharing

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

• With service providers who perform services on our behalf (hosting, storage, caching, analytics)
• To comply with legal obligations
• To protect our rights and the rights of others
• In connection with a merger, sale, or acquisition

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following categories of third-party services:

• Hosting and infrastructure: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (storage for some images)
• Content delivery: S3-compatible object storage (currently Cloudflare R2) plus our CDN-facing URLs for media you upload
• Caching: Upstash Redis for performance (e.g., caching profile metadata)
• Analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics and Vercel Analytics to understand usage and improve the service
• External APIs: When you add blocks (Twitch, Discord, Last.fm, YouTube), we fetch data from those services to display on your profile

These providers may collect and process data according to their own privacy policies.

6. Embedded Third-Party Content

Profiles may embed content from YouTube, Twitch, Discord, Last.fm, OpenStreetMap, and similar services. When you view a profile that includes such embeds, those third parties may collect information about your visit according to their own policies. We do not control their data practices.

7. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. By using FURID, you consent to such transfers. We take steps to ensure your data receives appropriate protection in accordance with applicable laws.

8. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our service. We will also retain and use your information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

Our service is not directed to anyone under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from minors, we will take steps to delete that information.
